Privacy policy
Last updated: 8 October 2026
This page explains what information TrekkingWale (trekkingwale.in) collects when you visit the website or contact us, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. We have written it in plain language and kept it to what the site actually does.
The short version
- You can read every page on this site without giving us your name, phone number or email.
- We use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand how people use the site, so we can make it clearer. Both use cookies.
- If you message us on WhatsApp, we use your name, number and messages to answer you and plan your trek.
- We do not sell your personal data.
1. Website analytics: Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages are useful. It records things like the pages you view, roughly where you are (city or country), the device and browser you use, and how you reached the site (for example from Google search or a WhatsApp link). Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to tell new visits from returning ones. We use these reports in summary form; we don't use them to identify you.
2. How people use pages: Microsoft Clarity
We use Microsoft Clarity to see how visitors move through our pages: where they click, how far they scroll and where they get stuck. Clarity creates heatmaps and anonymised session recordings of these interactions. Text typed into fields on the page is masked, so it is not captured in recordings. Clarity sets cookies to link page views within a visit and across visits.
3. When you contact us on WhatsApp
The "WhatsApp us" and "Ask on WhatsApp" buttons open a chat with us in WhatsApp. When you message us, we receive your name and phone number as shown in WhatsApp, and whatever you choose to tell us (for example your trek dates, group size, age or fitness). We use this only to reply to you, plan and run your trek, and keep you safe on it. We keep these chats as long as we need them for your enquiry or trip, and for any records the law requires us to keep. WhatsApp itself is run by Meta and handles your messages under its own privacy policy.
4. Hosting and security
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. To deliver pages and protect the site from abuse, Cloudflare processes technical details of each request, such as your IP address and browser type, and keeps short-term logs. Some trek pages also load a font from Google Fonts, which means your browser requests the font file from Google.
Cookies we use
| Cookie | Set by | What it's for |
|---|---|---|
_ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics | Tells new visitors from returning ones and groups page views into visits. |
_clck, _clsk | Microsoft Clarity | Links page views and clicks into a single visit and recognises returning visitors. |
Google and Microsoft may set further cookies of their own. We don't set any advertising cookies of our own, and the site has no login, so it needs no cookies to work: you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings and every page will still work.
Your choices and rights
Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal data we hold about you and how we use it;
- correct or update it;
- delete it, where we no longer need it for your trip or by law;

To opt out of analytics, block cookies for this site in your browser, or use Google'sGoogle Analytics opt-out add-on.

If you are under 18, please contact us about a trek through a parent or guardian. We don't knowingly collect personal data from children without their consent.
